Ferrosilicon Production Method :

 

Silicon is the most abundant element in the Earth’s crust after oxygen and it is commonly found in nature as quartz. Today, Ferroalloys are widely used in various industries, and Ferrosilicon is one of the most common Ferroalloys. Ferrosilicon production requires modern equipment, intricate techniques, and vast knowledge. During this process, after homogenization, the raw materials with specific granulation are continuously loaded into the furnace by loading pipes. Depending on the consumed amount of electricity by the furnace, it takes between 2 to 4 hours for the metal to be produced. Then the metal is transferred from the furnace discharge points to the Casting ladle to start the casting process. A Ferroalloy furnace is electrically similar to a steel furnace, but they have major differences in size and shape. Ferrosilicon is produced by combining iron and silicon through heating, reduction, and melting in Ferrosilicon electric arc furnaces.
